Congratulations to WE member Kimberly A. McMillan on her new position as Vice President of Marketing and Communications of the Charlotte Regional Realtor Association.

At the September WE meeting, Harriette Thompson, the oldest woman to ever run a marathon, graced us with her presence. The Charlotte Observer reports that she passed away on Monday, October 16 at the age of 94. A three-time cancer survivor, Thompson was an inspiration to us all. Congratulations to WE member Sara Lincoln who has been inducted as a Fellow into the American College of Trial Lawyers, one of the greatest honors for trial lawyers practicing in North America. She is only the eighth woman in North Carolina to receive this honor.

Victoria is the Director of Finance and Administration for Mountain Khakis. Mountain Khakis is a lifestyle apparel company born in Jackson Hole, Wyoming and headquartered here in Charlotte. She is a former non-traditional student and proud graduate of UNC Charlotte. Victoria and her husband have an entertaining group of 5 children that keep them pretty busy. Congratulations to Pam Pearson! Wells Fargo has honored Pam Pearson with a 2017 Volunteer Service Award in recognition of her many years of service with WECS as a mentor, scholar selection panelist, school coordinator and board member, including her recent term as President of the WECS board. This honor is given to select Wells Fargo employees each year in recognition of outstanding volunteer contributions, and Pam's nomination was supported by many WE members who work at Wells Fargo. The company will donate $1,000 to WECS in honor of Pam to support WECS's strategic plan to increase the number and dollar amount of WINGS scholarships. Congratulations, Pam! And thank you for all you have done and continue to do for our scholars!

Past President of WE and WECS, Sherry Barretta, will join the board of the Bryan School of Business and Economics at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro beginning September. Sherry, an alum of UNCG, will serve a 3-year term.

WE member, Linda Lockman-Brooks spoke at the recent 2017 Executive Breakfast for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). Linda shared the story of her daughter, Morgan, and her 7-year battle with Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

WE Member Myra Joines' mother, Dorothy R. Joines, 86, of Winston-Salem, died peacefully Wednesday, March 22 after several years of declining health. Her memorial service was held Saturday, March 25, at the Lutheran Church of the Epiphany in Winston-Salem where she requested memorial donations be made to the endowment fund.
